It's been an awfully long time since I've created artwork for myself. Artwork that I'm proud of. I still draw every now-and-then, but admittedly only for commissions for other people. I don't really get any enjoyment out of drawing - at least, not the way I used to.
I mentioned a while ago (I think. My memory is rather shot) that I was going to college for Professional Writing. I'm not quite sure what direction I want to go in yet, but in the meantime, I've started writing a writerly-type blog. Mostly to keep up with classmates and friends. Partially to see if I can actually do it.
So from now on, you'll be able to find me at wordpress. This blog will probably be shut down (again) within the next month or so.
Thank you, everyone, who kept up with my silly updates, and those of you who were kind enough to give me a comment here and there. It's much appreciated. I hope you're doing well.

CAPSIZE
Did I mention that this new layout for blogspot is driving me mad? I'm so confused.
Anyway. Been in a bit of a block. Trying to get financial stuff sorted out for college in September. Not sure if I wrote about that or not... maybe I'll do a "personal" update this weekend. I kind of forgot that I had a blogspot, to be honest. Oops. Anyway, here's some things:

Lyrics "Capsize" (c) Karen O.

I'm having this weird problem lately where I choke on air. Very frustrating. And embarrassing. What kind of person messes up breathing? Me, apparently.

Lyrics "Take a Bow" (c) Muse.
Also, two of my favourite bands are releasing albums this year!
- Animal Collective "Centipede Hz" in September
- Muse's "The 2nd Law" in September
- Also Grizzly Bear, sometime. And Liars have their new album out already but I haven't got any $$$ to buy it. Boo-urns.
That being said, I'm offering commissions again! Yay.

Empty Vessels Make the Loudest Sound
I'm in a bit of a spot lately, trying to get back into college mostly, and my computer is quickly becoming inaccessible - frankly I'm surprised it still turns on anymore. So I'm offering commissions again. Shipping prices will be included in the final price.
I haven't done much art in the past few months but here are a few things I have done:
These are some pages from the Arthouse Sketchbook project. I'm not sure if I made it in on time.
(Lyrics "Backdrifters" (c) Radiohead.)
(Lyrics "Rico" (c) Matthew Good Band.)
(Lyrics "The Stand" (c) Mother Mother.)
And some other random stuff:
(Lyrics "In Absentia" (c) The Mars Volta.)
Commission for my friend Liz, who is an absolutely fantastic artist. Check out her work here.

Tumblr
I'm not sure if I've posted the link here before, but I do a lot of posting/most of my posting over on Tumblr now. You can find my stuff using the "My Things" link, or by adding /tagged/andthemonster to the end of the URL. Anything not in that tag (or under the "personal" tag) is just reblogs/stuff I found online.

Le Neigh
Apologies for the lack of updates. I've been all over the place in the past couple of months and haven't really been drawing much until recently - and only then it's been horses. I'll spare you my life story, but here's some doodles I did today.

I've been playing Red Dead Redemption/Undead Nightmare a lot lately. I'm a sucker for zombies, of course, but the best part about Undead Nightmare has to be the badass horses!
The individual drawings:

And a Twiggy-unicorn to finish off.

And I'll leave you with a trailer for Red Dead Redemption because it has cowboys.

Our Haven on the Southern Point
The holidays are almost over so I'll have more time to do arty-things again (weird how that works, isn't it? Normally it's the other way around.) I spent this afternoon listening to Grizzly Bear and doing some art. I haven't done either in a really long time. I forgot how amazing Veckatimest was. Perfect arting music.
My job at Future Shop is nearing the end, I think, and I'll have to do the job search all over again. I'm looking forward to going back to the farm, though. Even if it's cold out, it's still nice to be outside with the horses.
Zia has taken up a new habit of sleeping in random spots in the middle of the floor, or on my sweater when I'm in bed. I trip over her at night if I'm not careful. Her flea problem seems to have gotten better, even though it wasn't bad to begin with. I haven't seen any for a month or so.
Anyway, here's some new-ish stuff. I could have sworn I posted the Kirin already but... guess not. I'll be starting commissions for Wolfhome poses again soon, so those should be up in a while.

Slim. I want to get a tattoo of him. Something nicer than this though.

Sometimes I go into public chatrooms and pretend I'm Iron Man.

Typical vent art. Even monsters have bad days.

Just did this one today. For thin paper, Moleskine notebooks handle markers and paint very well.
Lyrics (c) Grizzly Bear.

Misc Update
Since it's been a while since I updated I thought I'd just post so anyone who reads this blog knows I'm still alive. I haven't been doing any art lately, so anything I post today is going to be a few months old, I'm afraid.
I started a second job about a month ago at Future Shop, selling iPods and things, and was working full time there plus at the farm for a while so I didn't have time to do anything. My hours have been cut back significantly but I still spend most of my time doing other stuff (My mom just bought me a PS3 for an early Christmas present and I've been glued to it for the past week) and trying to spend time with friends. But now that I'm off training and no longer working full time, I'm hoping some energy will come back and I'll be able to make things again before the holidays hit and I'm working more.
Anyway, here's some random art-y things.

I was going to use this as a playlist layout but decided not to. Various images taken from Google.

Quick CD cover I made for the Everything is Illuminated soundtrack.

SALE!
So I've hit a rough spot in terms of money - as in, I have none. My cat fell with a case of fleas and rent is looming just around the corner. I am desperately searching for a job, but unfortunately these things take time and time isn't what I've got right now.
So, I'm selling some original artwork and my "big piece", my art journal from 2006 that I normally wouldn't part with, but, well. Desperate times, etc.
I have two paintings on Canvas and one on paper that I'm putting up for sale for now. The paintings are all original work, and are signed.

"Heart"
($40.00 CAD, 9x12, acrylic on canvas)

"Andrew Bird"
($30.00 CAD, 8x10, acrylic on canvas)

"Birdhouse"
($20.00 CAD, 9x12, mixed media on paper)
I am also selling my Moleskine animals, with the exception of the bear (gave it to my friend) and the deer. They are all framed.

($35.00 each or all four for $120.00 - you save $20.00)
My "big piece" is my art journal. It's about five years old and contains doodles, bits of writing, sketches, collages and random bits of junk. Although I stopped working on it after a while, it has seventy-five pages complete.
